Meet Senior Jonah Bennetch!
At the end of last school year, Jonah approached Mrs. Smith about pursuing an internship in archaeology, specifically with PennDOT. With the help of State contacts, Mrs. Smith was able to secure Jonah an amazing PAID internship with PennDOT’s Cultural Resources Division!
During his internship, Jonah has been working alongside professionals in archaeology, history, and environmental protection. He’s gaining hands-on experience learning the structure and organization of PennDOT, studying bridges across the state, and inputting important data that helps agencies share information.
Jonah says the best part of his internship is getting real-world experience and a glimpse into his future career. This summer, he hopes to continue his work—possibly even participating in dig sites and getting his hands dirty! He also enjoys the quiet, focused office environment, complete with his own desk and computer.
After graduation, Jonah will attend Millersville University to study Archaeology/Anthropology. He shares that this internship has given him a strong understanding of what it means to be an archaeologist and has prepared him for what’s ahead.
