Perry County Police Academy

🚔 Perry County High School Police Citizen Academy is in full swing!

Eleven students from Newport, West Perry, and Susquenita High Schools are participating in this exciting hands-on program. Students have taken part in workshops and demonstrations from several divisions of the Pennsylvania State Police, including Drug Recognition/SFST, Alcohol Enforcement, K9 searches, a cold case investigation, and fingerprinting with the Forensic Services Unit.

The program runs for eight weeks, giving students the opportunity to explore many aspects of law enforcement. Next week, students will learn about local law enforcement agencies and the roles they play in our communities.

This week, students also had the special opportunity to tour PSP Headquarters and learn more about careers in law enforcement.

A special thank you to Trooper Angela R. Laviena, Community Service Officer, and the Newport PSP State Police Barracks for providing this valuable career exploration experience for our students! 👏
